Wedding Guest Book Inspiration

The memories made on your wedding day should be timeless. From the way you felt in your wedding gown to the moments shared on the dance floor, you will have photos capturing those celebrations and they will be enjoyed throughout the years. They grace our hallways and your wedding album is on the bookshelf to pull down and reflect. We believe personalization of any wedding is the key to the timelessness of those memories.  

Fast forward a few years. There are items from your wedding day that get packed up in a box and stored for years and years and years. The traditional unity candle and the guest book are probably a few of those items. They collect dust and you find yourself wondering why you kept such a thing. I’m only speaking the truth here as I am guilty of it as well. So, when we talk about ideas for wedding guests books with our clients, we talk about personalization and something practical that might also be enjoyed over the years. Something that could remain timeless. Here are some tips:

Christina + David embraced a thumbprint wedding guest book, an art piece allowing guests to use a stamping pad and leave their thumbprint with a message. Most commonly used are trees, but with everything from peacocks to balloon thumbprint collections, the sky is the limit. You should pick a format that blends with your personal style, not just the wedding style, as you want it to remain timeless. Think of your hobbies and life passions, and create some magic.

Becky + Trevor selected the idea to have their guests write a personal note on a card and place it in an envelope for their wedding guest book. Using a blend of their wedding colors and the oh, so fabulous wedding smash book, we created a guest book design with a little effort and a lot of personalization, not to mention a lifetime of memories. It was a private and intimate message from their friends and family, allowing them to look back on their wedding day and those that celebrated with them.

Photo Booths are a hot trend in todays weddings. Not only does it give a way for guests to cool down from all the dancing, but it captures all the silliness of the wedding moment. Two copies print, leaving guests with a keepsake and the other to place in a photo booth wedding guest book (which should be customized to fit your wedding theme, thank you etsy.com) allowing guests to leave a little message. Guaranteed for a lifetime of laughs.  

Taking it up a notch, is the craze of Flip Books. It’s a photo booth on steroids, allowing for a 30 second video to be made, props included, and a flip book to print before your eyes. Customizable with all the bells and whistles. Good stuff.

When you have talent in the family, use it. Barbara + Johnathan took the idea of a thumbprint tree and truly created a masterpiece to enjoy in their home. Barbara’s Mom, a rockstar artist, painted the landscape of the tree, while Barbara cut paper leaves and lemons for guests to sign, creating a canvas wedding guest book. The end result was pretty epic.  

For Jenny + Ravi, they always do things in life that make a statement. They wanted to use their nicknames for each other into the wedding: Silly and Willy. The names were incredibly personal and didn’t quite fit anywhere in the wedding design, but that wasn’t going to hold us back. After a little inspiration, Jenny found these awesome over-sized whimsical white letters. They were decorated with loving messages from family and friends in bright colors and became a personal touch to their wedding and an art piece in their new home along with the oversized paper flowers from their wedding. Good stuff. 

For those with the love of Grandma’s quilt (a dying art), embrace the idea of having your guests sign quilt squares for the wedding guest book. Darby + Bart provided quilt squares which guests left a little love message on. It will be made into a quilt and I am sure many movies will be enjoyed under the comfort of this quilt. Truth be told, I want a wedding redo so I can steal this idea.
