Our firm had the humble pleasure of styling a baroque meets burlesque environment for the Weddings in Houston Magazine fantasy style shoot. This was the first time this award-winning magazine requested Houston wedding consultants to showcase their talent through a fantasy style-shoot, providing inspiration to all the wonderful brides and grooms in this great city. We were thrilled with this opportunity and immediately looked to Marie Antionette for a little style inspiration. In the 18th century, fashion was everything. It provided confidence and made a visual statement. Along with this, the style of baroque and burlesque blending together brought a perfect refined eclectic style. As baroque was often thought as a period of artistic style using exaggerated motion, burlesque takes literary, dramatic or musical work and intends to indicate a bright or high-spirited mood, sometimes in contrast to seriousness. All of them together represent a style of femininity. A fashion style shoot takes on the philosophy of anything goes. There are no rules, no budget constraints, and generally the most impractical idea is the best idea. For the Weddings in Houston Magazine fantasy style shoot, we wanted to provide the unexpected. We wanted the readers to want more, to dream about the setting, to make up their own story. We hoped to leave the readers with a little bit of mystery of who might show up for this dinner among the majestic oaks. We are beyond thrilled the team of this elite magazine loved it so much, they provided 6-pages of epic glory in the center of the summer edition.
